Blonde Easter Joke

Three blondes died and are at the pearly gates of heaven. St. Peter tells them that they can enter the gates if they can answer one simple question. St. Peter asks the first blonde, “What is Easter?” The blonde replies, “Oh, that’s easy! It’s the holiday in November when everyone gets together, eats turkey, and are thankful and stuff…” “Wrong!,” replies St. Peter, and proceeds to ask the second blonde the same question, “What is Easter?” The second blonde replies, “Easter is the holiday in December when we put up a nice tree, exchange presents, and drink eggnog.” St. Peter looks at the second blonde, shakes his head in disgust, tells her she’s wrong, and then peers over his glasses at the third blonde and asks, “What is Easter?” The third blonde smiles confidently and looks St. Peter in the eyes, “I know what Easter is.” “Oh?” says St. Peter, incredulously. “Easter is the Christian holiday, that coincides with the Jewish celebration of Passover. Jesus and his disciples were eating at the last supper. Then the Romans took him to be crucified and he was stabbed in the side, made to wear a crown of thorns, and was hung on a cross with nails through his hands. He was buried in a nearby cave which was sealed off by a large boulder.” St. Peter smiles broadly with delight. Then the third blonde continues, “Every year the boulder is moved aside so that Jesus can come out…and, if he sees his shadow, there will be six more weeks of winter.”

Poppyseed Cookies

I made some poppyseed cookies for Christmas. I took most of them to work and everyone loved them. They were very good and the dough was even better! (Cook’s privilege!)
Renaissance Festival

OK so I went to the Renaissance Festival a few weeks ago. People dress up in period costumes and stuff. There are jousts (as seen in the photo). Musical entertainment of period music. Roasted turkey legs – yum, yum! Games to play, and many, many shops! I think it’s more about shopping than anything else! LOL. It was a lot of fun though, but it was so big, I don’t think we got to see everything. If you’ve never been to a Renaissance Festival, I highly recommend it.
What’s your favorite chocolate?

OK well all this talk of candy and Halloween makes me think of Chocolate! I love chocolate in all forms. I love dark chocolate with almonds. But really, I think one of my favorites is Cadbury’s Fruit and Nut bar. But I don’t eat them very often. Hmmmm….Oh and I love the Cadbury’s buttons too, but you can only get them here in the special import section of the store and they are so expensive! I ate a lot of them when I was in England.

Government will spy on every call and e-mail
Ministers are considering spending up to £12 billion on a database to monitor and store the internet browsing habits, e-mail and telephone records of everyone in Britain.
GCHQ, the government’s eavesdropping centre, has already been given up to £1 billion to finance the first stage of the project.
Hundreds of clandestine probes will be installed to monitor customers live on two of the country’s biggest internet and mobile phone providers – thought to be BT and Vodafone. BT has nearly 5m internet customers.
Ministers are braced for a backlash similar to the one caused by their ID cards programme. Dominic Grieve, the shadow home secretary, said: “Any suggestion of the government using existing powers to intercept communications data without public discussion is going to sound extremely sinister.”

MI5 currently conducts limited e-mail and website intercepts which are approved under specific warrants by the home secretary.
Further details of the new plan will be unveiled next month in the Queen’s speech.
The Home Office stressed no formal decision had been taken but sources said officials had made clear that ministers had agreed “in principle” to the programme.
Officials claim live monitoring is necessary to fight terrorism and crime. However, critics question whether such a vast system can be kept secure. A total of 57 billion text messages were sent in the UK last year – 1,800 every second.
